We will break for one hour and meet out at the range for a shooting qualification (100 rounds) where students will use and demonstrate what has been learned in class.

Class Description: In this Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals class (which meets requirements for a concealed carry permit in the great state of Idaho) instructed by Certified USCCA Instructors, Dane Mullen and Greg Bonde, you will learn about or be refreshed on the basics of self-defense, home defense, and concealed carry. Before class ends students will have obtained understandings of important self-defense components, demonstrate and practice skills using a firearm in a self-defense context, learned about the legal ramifications of self-defense and been introduced to options available, and been provided the opportunity to qualify for an Idaho Enhanced Concealed Carry Permit.

This includes:

  • Understanding and using conflict avoidance to prevent escalation as well as the importance of de-escalation.
  • Understanding and using situational awareness.
  • Home Security and developing a home defense plan.
  • Understanding use of force and proper escalation of force in a self-defense scenario.
  • Basic shooting fundamentals and concepts.
  • Physiology of violent encounters – how your body responds to high stress situations.

  • How to handle the mental and legal aftermath of a self-defense situation.

This course is scheduled to last 6 hours in-classroom and 2 hours at the range (with a break long enough for travel to the range). *Additional topics may include discussion on what makes a good, concealed carry gun, as well as discussion around gear such as concealed carry holsters and the differences between types and styles.

You are required to bring:

  • Pen/Pencil and Paper Pad for notetaking.
  • Handgun of your choosing (what you intend to carry every day).
  • 100 rounds of ammunition for your handgun.
  • Holster that fits your handgun.
  • Pants or shorts with belt loops and a belt.
  • Eye and ear protection
  • Bag/sack lunch, snacks if needed, and beverages (we want you to stay hydrated).
  • Open mind, positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.
  • Remember: Open-toed shoes are not allowed, and you will be unable to participate in the live shooting drills, preventing you from earning your certificate.

*Important Note: Leave your ammunition in your vehicle during class. You will bring your UNLOADED handgun, holster, and EMPTY magazine(s) in with you during the classroom portion. We will NOT be using any ammunition during this portion. For safety reasons, please ensure that everything is EMPTY and UNLOADED.

**If you need to rent, we have handguns available. Rentals are $25.00 per person/per day ($50 if you also need ammunition provided). This cost is in addition to the cost of the class.
